Empowering the Women of Bondigui and Dolo and Alleviating Poverty by Strengthening the Local Shea Butter Industry
Most women in the rural communities of Bondigui and Dolo depend upon income from the sales of shea butter and other shea-related products to provide daily sustenance. In addition to its importance as a key income source for women in rural communities, shea butter production can significantly contribute to enhancing and uplifting the standard of living for these women and their households. The Project seeks to empower the women of Bondigui and Dolo by assisting them to alleviate acute poverty by reimagining the local Shea Butter Industry as a sustainable business.
In order to achieve this goal, this Project will:
Both Dolo and Bondigui are situated in the Bougouriba Province in southwestern Burkina Faso. They have each a population of 2,843 (Dolo) and 3,071 (Bondigui) respectively.*
